DIY: Anatomical Heart Vase

Super quick and easy DIY project today.

I saw this bud vase and fell in love:

Unfortunately, it's hella expensive. Also, it's porcelain and I have three cats who like to climb things.

Cue me looking at Halloween decorations and coming across a plastic heart, and then my husband cringing as I pull this very realistic looking plastic heart out of an Amazon box:

Now, for the extreeeeemely complicated instructions: I drilled holes in the "valves" and then filed them smooth, then I just primed/spraypainted it gloss white. Sidenote, when painting, I always find it's better to spray a primer separately, even if your paint is "paint and primer in one." Otherwise, you'll need to do several coats to cover dark items or risk the paint not adhering properly over shiny finishes.

I had the base on the left, but I ended up disliking it, so I ordered an invisible one and now I love it.

Is in an exact dupe? Nope. Has it fallen several times already, as predicted? Yep. Did I spend less than $20 on this whole thing? Yep.

Now to figure out what flowers to put in it… Suggestions? I’m not a fan of daisies.

List of things I used:

Anatomical Heart

Invisible Base

Spray Primer

Spray Paint
